An earthquake of 8.3 magnitude in Chille
On 16th at 7:54 p.m. a powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.3 occurred in the vicinity of Santiago (the capital city of Chile).
Due to the earthquake, a warning has been issued in the whole coastal area of Chile and neighboring countries of Peru and an advisory has been announced in Huwai.
Buildings were shaken by the earthquake in the city of Santiago and 1000's of horrified people suddenly came out on the streets to evacuate and that created chaos.
Chilean Government has announced that due to unstable communication connection in those affected areas, they ain't able to prepare an exact report on the injured people and damages.
According to U.S.G.S. (United States Geological Survey) , the magnitude of earthquake measured was 7.9 but immediately U.S.G.S. updated the magnitude to 8.3.
U.S.G.S. stated that the epicenter of the earthquake is in the coastal areas of Pacific Ocean which is 228km Northwest of Santiago and depth of the epicenter was 5km.

Due to the earthquake in Chile, the vibrations were also felt in Buenos Aires (the capital city of Argentina) and is 1400km away.

Chilean Government ordered the residents to evacuate the coastal areas quickly by making an announcement that earthquake is going to occur in the coastal water of Pacific Ocean by 11 a.m.
Chile is located in the high seismic zone i.e. Pacific Ocean rim AKA "RING OF FIRE" that's why earthquakes occur very frequently at this place.
In 1960, more than 5000 people died in the Central Chile due to a 9.5 magnitude earthquake.
Recently, an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 hit Chile in Feb,2010.
