STRONG EARTHQUAKE OF MAGNITUDE 8.3 HITS CHILE, SANTIAGO LEADING TSUNAMI WARNING TILL PERU

A strong earthquake of magnitude 8.3 hits the capital city of Santiago on April 16, at 7:54 pm. Tsunami warning has been issued to the regions of Chile and neighboring  country of Peru as well as Hawaii, USA.

As the buildings in Santiago were shaken by the earthquake, thousands of people came out on streets in fear leading a big chaos.

The Chilean government revealed the details of total damage and injured people in affected area which are still not certain due to panic situation and communication.

Initially, USGS reported the magnitude of 7.9 but updated it to 8.3. 
As per USGS , the 5 km deep epicenter was located in the coastal areas of the Pacific ocean, about 228 km north-west of Santiago.

The University of Chile estimated the epicenter to be located at 500 km in the north of Santiago, 11 km inside.The strong tremor was also felt in the capital city of Argentina which was at the distance of 1400 km. The government reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was two times more than 6.0 Richter scale, soon after severe shocks.

After the earthquake, the Chilean government issued an evacuation order as the possibility of Tsunami near coast at 11pm. 
Because of its location in the 'Ring Of Fire', the strong earthquake zone of the Pacific belt, Chile receives strong earthquakes very frequently.

In 1960, a menace earthquake of magnitude 9.5 hit central Chile which resulted into dead of more than 5000 people. Also, It received another strong earthquake of magnitude 8.8 recently in February 2010.

Strong earthquake of magnitude 8.3 hits Chile.. Tsunami warning issued till Peru

A strong earthquake of  magnitude 8.3 occured in the vicinity of Santiago, the capital city of Chile, on 16th April at 7:54 PM. Because of the earthquake, the entire coastal area of Chile and the neighbouring country Peru , has been issued Tsunami warning and an advisory has been issued in Hawai, US. Also, the buildings of the Santiago city has were strongly shaken because of which thousands of fear-stricken citizens rushed out to the street, evacuating their houses, which caused a huge chaos. The Chilean government revealed that due to the unstable condition of communication services in that area, the details of injuries and damages cannot be reported yet. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) initially announced the magnitude of the earthquake to be at 7.9  but they immediately upgraded it to magnitude 8.3. STRONG QUAKE IN CHILLE [SANTIAGO].......TSUNAMI ALERT IN PERU
