STRONG EARTHQUAKE OF MAGNITUDE 8.3 IN CHILE......TSUNAMI ALERT IN PERU

on the 16th at 7:54am , a strong earthquake of magnitude of 8.3 occured in the vicinity of the capital city of chile santiago.
Due to this tsunami warning hasbeen issued in coastal areas of neighbouring country peru and an advisory has been issued in Hwaii island of the USA.
Also in the downtown of santiago many building strongly shaken and thousand of panic citizens rush out to the street during evacuation and it creates ruckus there.
In the affected area ,due to the unstable condition of communication the chile government is unable to produce the detail report of injured and loss.
Initially USGS reported magnitude to be 7.9 but sooner it updated it to 8.3.
According to USGS ,the epicentre is located 228km away from the northwest of santiago in the coastal region of pacific ocean and its epicentre is 5km depth.
Chile university estimated the epicentre was at 500km away from santiago towards north and depth was estimated to be 11km.
due to strong vibration triggered by the earthquake in chile ,vibration was alsoo detected in the capital city of argentina,Buenos Aires which was 1400km away.
It was reported that atleast two strong after shocks of magnitude 6.0 has occured after few min of earthquake.
The chile government issued an order for the evacuation of all the people in the neighbourhood of coastal area at around 11pm.
chile experienced frequent earth quake as it is located in high risk seismic zone of pacific rim also known as "Ring of fire".
In 1960 chile experienced earthquake of magnitude 9.5 which resulted loss of 5000 lives in central chile.
Recently in feb ,2010 chile experienced an earthquake of magnitude 8.8.

Strong earthquake of magnitude 8.3 hits Chile.. Tsunami warning issued till Peru

A strong earthquake of magnitude 8.3 occured in the vicinity of Santiago, the capital city of Chile, on 16th April at 7:54 PM. Because of the earthquake, the entire coastal area of Chile and the neighbouring country Peru , has been issued Tsunami warning and an advisory has been issued in Hawai, US. Also, the buildings of the Santiago city has were strongly shaken because of which thousands of fear-stricken citizens rushed out to the street, evacuating their houses, which caused a huge chaos. The Chilean government revealed that due to the unstable condition of communication services in that area, the details of injuries and damages cannot be reported yet. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) initially announced the magnitude of the earthquake to be at 7.9 but they immediately upgraded it to magnitude 8.3. A strong earthquake of magnitude 8.3 struck off the vicinity of santiago [capital city of Chille] on 16th at 7:54 pm.Tsunami alert has been issued in the whole coastal side of chille and the neighbouring countries of Peru even in Hawaii ,due to this strong earthquake.
